Here are 30 MHSAA, MAIS baseball players to watch in the 2023 playoffs (2024)

The Mississippi high school baseball players are underway for MHSAA and MAIS for the 2023 postseason. Here are 30 players to watch across the state.

Tre Gunn, Biggersville: The junior has a team-high .543 batting average and 30 RBIs in 21 games. Gunn also has 31 hits, three doubles and three home runs.

Logan Fontenelle, Biloxi: Fontenelle has a .420 batting average, 34 hits, 27 RBIs, 10 doubles and two home runs in 26 games.

Walker Hooks, Brandon: The Ole Miss commitment went 8-2 with a 1.11 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 11 appearances.

Braden Smith, Brandon: The senior leads the team with 28 RBIs. Smith has 33 hits, nine doubles and two home runs in 25 games.

Cole Manuel, Clinton: Manuel went 8-2 with a 1.70 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 11 appearances. He also is hitting .413 with 26 hits, 24 RBIs and seven doubles in 26 games.

Gunner Mckee, Copiah Academy: Mckee has 43 hits with a .422 batting average, 18 doubles and two home runs in 30 games.

Eli Page, D'Iberville: The senior went 7-0 with a 0.49 ERA in nine appearances and 69 strikeouts.

Colby Wilson, D'Iberville: The senior is hitting .457 with 42 hits, 17 RBIs, nine doubles and three home runs in 28 games.

T.J. Dunsford, East Central: The Southern Miss signee leads East Central with a .365 batting average along with 27 hits, 18 RBIs, five doubles and two home runs in 27 games. Dunsford also had a 7-1 record with a 1.88 ERA and 75 strikeouts in nine appearances.

Rett Johnson, East Union: Johnson has a team high .513 batting average, 40 hits and 35 RBIs in 26 games. The senior also has 10 doubles, five triples and three home runs.

Drew Harrison, Germantown: The Tulane commitment has a .457 batting average 32 hits, 24 RBIs and two home runs in 26 games. Harrison also has a 3-2 record with a 1.67 ERA in 11 appearances.

Jackson Hood, Germantown: The junior has a .457 batting average with 32 hits, 24 RBIs, two doubles and two home runs in 26 games.

Hallas Lawson, Hernando: The junior has a .507 batting average, 36 hits, 36 RBIs, 9 doubles and two home runs in 26 games.

Konnor Griffin, Jackson Prep: The LSU commitment has a .527 batting average, 39 hits, 26 RBIs and six home runs in 24 games. Griffin also went 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA in eight appearances.

Rives Reynolds, Jackson Prep: The Mississippi State signee has a team-high 39 RBIs along with a .391 batting average, 36 hits and seven home runs in 27 games.

Noah Robinson, Lafayette: The senior has a 4-1 record with a 0.85 ERA in 11 appearances for Lafayette. Robinson allowed five earned runs with 47 strikeouts in 41 innings.

Gunner Gilmore, Lewisburg: The Air Force commitment has a .404 batting average with 21 hits, 12 RBIs, three doubles and a home run in 24 games.

Corey Watkins, Madison-Ridgeland Academy: The junior has a .395 batting average with 32 hits, 32 RBIs, nine doubles and seven home runs in 29 games.

Tyler Griffith, Mize: The senior has a .467 batting average, 28 hits, 30 RBIs and 12 doubles in 28 games.

Campbell Smithwick, Oxford: The Ole Miss signee leads Oxford with a .507 batting average along with 38 hits, 22 RBIs, 11 doubles and five home runs in 26 games.

Reid Kent, Oxford: The junior has a .500 batting average, 44 hits, 40 RBIs, nine doubles and three home runs in 26 games.

JoJo Parker, Purvis: The sophom*ore has a .476 batting average, 40 hits, 28 RBIs, 11 doubles and nine home runs in 27 games. Parker also went 4-0 with a 1.62 ERA in 11 appearances.

Parker Ishee, Ridgeland: The junior has a 4-1 record with a 0.87 ERA in 11 appearances. Ishee allowed five earned runs, 20 hits with 56 strikeouts.

James Woody, Ridgeland: The Grambling State signee has a .427 batting average, with 32 hits, 21 RBIs and 12 doubles in 27 games. Woody also had a 5-1 record with a 2.12 ERA in eight appearances.

Colin Jenkins, Simpson Academy: Jenkins has a 9-0 record with a 0.89 ERA in 11 appearances for Simpson Academy. The junior allowed 16 hits and six earned runs with 60 strikeouts in 47 innings.

Barrett McKenney, Simpson Academy: The sophom*ore has a team-high .570 batting average with 57 hits, 53 RBIs, 14 doubles and nine home runs in 33 games.

Walker Long, Sumrall: The senior has a team-high 41 RBIs along with a .433 batting average, 29 hits, 10 doubles and four home runs in 24 games.

Jaxon Rayborn, West Jones: The junior has a .354 batting average with 23 hits, 23 RBIs, eight doubles and three home runs in 23 games.

Greer Manning, West Union: The junior had a team-high .471 batting average, 33 hits, 38 RBIs and nine doubles. Manning also had five home runs.
